From the title you're probably expecting a bright cheery homage to summer and my summer plans instead you're getting this. I'm not 100% sure what to call this but it's this.
Summer is the time of sunshine and brief interludes of rain. Its supposed to be full of adventure and hope and glory. Its supposed to be the time of happiness and tans; Youth going out to pools and playing in water, barbeques and picnics, summer vacations, Beach Boys blasting while you go to the beach (or any of the aforementioned). For the however many college kids getting out of school within the next few weeks the beginning of summer is something very different. The beginning of summer is the time when you realize that you have to live under your parents roof again. Although there is no homework or high stress because of that it is still cumbersome. Some kids are used to more freedom at school or doing things at their own pace; while being home they are forced to do things at their parent's pace. They return to a place that is slightly inconvenienced for them. They are forced to drive everywhere instead of walking to most places and have to go long distances. Every student will have the problem of figuring out where *insert object* has gotten to between the move and where it will go. So far for me this transitional period has been chaosed. I'm used to my own schedule and not dealing with parents. I also miss having due dates on my calender. I mean look at this. It's depressing.
I mean I have nothing planed for the majority of May. Sure I'll find stuff but there is nothing here.WHAT DO I DO?! There is no impending due dates and this irks me. Anywho have a great beginning of summer and I'll get back to you with more funny anecdotes this summer.

Pro·cras·ti·nate: To put off doing something, especially out of habitual carelessness or laziness.
I've had about 6 or 7 drafts of different posts waiting for me to write them. I won't. Why?
1. I don't remember where they were going.
2. I'm a procrastinator.
3. The odds of me finishing this post are slim yet the keys are still going.
Something about me has always been a procrastinator. When I was little, my mother called it dilly dallying. I would be getting ready for the school day and she would yell "Stop dilly dallying!" (Its amazing how parents know what your doing when you aren't doing them isn't it?) As I progressed as a human, I continued to dilly dally or as "normal" people state procrastinate. (Shocker: I'm procrastinating on homework as I'm writing this) One day I was procrastinating on a certain social networking website and stumbled upon this quote by David Cain author of Procrastination is not Laziness:
Side note.. I last worked on this post on March 6th, 2013.. I decided it would be best if I just posted it as is.

(Shocker: I'm procrastinating on homework as I'm writing this) One day I was procrastinating on a certain social networking website and stumbled upon this quote by David Cain author of Procrastination is not Laziness:
"It turns out procrastination is not typically a function of laziness, apathy or work ethic as it is often regarded to be. It’s a neurotic self-defense behavior that develops to protect a person’s sense of self-worth.You see, procrastinators tend to be people who have, for whatever reason, developed to perceive an unusually strong association between their performance and their value as a person. This makes failure or criticism disproportionately painful, which leads naturally to hesitancy when it comes to the prospect of doing anything that reflects their ability — which is pretty much everything. But in real life, you can’t avoid doing things. We have to earn a living, do our taxes, have difficult conversations sometimes. Human life requires confronting uncertainty and risk, so pressure mounts. Procrastination gives a person a temporary hit of relief from this pressure of “having to do” things, which is a self-rewarding behavior. So it continues and becomes the normal way to respond to these pressures.Particularly prone to serious procrastination problems are children who grew up with unusually high expectations placed on them. Their older siblings may have been high achievers, leaving big shoes to fill, or their parents may have had neurotic and inhuman expectations of their own, or else they exhibited exceptional talents early on, and thereafter “average” performances were met with concern and suspicion from parents and teachers.”

Running Colors
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
(only like 40 days late)
Something I've always wanted to do was be able to run. Not just a short distance but to be able to run the entire mile or something along those lines. This desire began in the 7th or 8th grade when I secretly wanted to join the track team. I failed to tell anyone because I was not confident in myself and I believed asthma controlled my life. Flash forward past 4 aggravating years of early bird gym (first of all who would want to be up and running at 7 A.M. to begin with?) and supposedly being able to run 20 minutes by the end of the semester (Fun Fact: I couldn't) to today, when I have free gym and access to Zumba!
| Ahhhhhh Sooo cool! |
The other day, some friends and I were discussing summer 2013 and what our current plans contain. We come up with the brilliant idea to do The Color Run in Chicago. For those who do not know what The Color Run is, it is a 5k or around 3.1 mile run where participants wear a white shirt and throughout the course volunteer throw these colors on you. After the run there is a party where you just get incredibly colorful. First, I would like to say this sounds like a magnificent idea; second, I think this is a terrible idea. As previously mentioned I don't run but I believe that I can do a 5k and am able to do anything I want.
| I mean who wouldn't want to look this cool? |
Lets see how long this lasts.. the blog or the running/physical activity thing.
